In the artist's words, "The Greystone cross is in my mind, a resurrection cross. One might suppose every cross is a resurrection cross, regardless of its design or function and you would in a general sense be correct. But the cross I designed and constructed is specifically based upon Matthew 27 verses 50 and 51. The very moment of Jesus death when the veil of the Holy of Holies in the Jerusalem tabernacle was ripped apart from the top to bottom. This is the moment my steel cross records the breach or break is so essential to the birth of Christianity and the church."
"And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom The earth shook, the rocks split."
Matthew 27:50-51

Rev. Dr. Anthony J. McCullough
Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Tony earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Auburn University, and worked for thirteen years as a Professional Civil Engineer. It was while serving as a lay speaker in the United Methodist Church, preaching at Booth UMC in Autauga County on Sundays, that he felt called to leave his job as an engineer and enter full-time pastoral ministry. While attending seminary at Candler School of Theology at Emory University, he was appointed to serve as the minister of Dexter Avenue UMC in downtown Montgomery. He served at Dexter Avenue UMC for five years, and during that time, led them through a church re-start and it became River City Church, which was known for its focus on inner city missions. Tony served First Methodist Church in Brewton from 2015-2018, and has been the Senior Minister of Prattville First Methodist since 2018. In 2020, he completed his Doctor of Ministry degree in Church Leadership from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.. During his six years at Prattville Methodist Church, he successfully led the congregation through a $1.7M capital campaign focused on significant capital improvements. During the global pandemic, he provided spiritual leadership through the implementation of new ministry and mission practices. Most recently, he led the church through the complex disaffiliation process when the congregation voted to disaffiliate from the UMC. Throughout his ministry in the local church, Tony’s pastoral heart is rooted in the leading and power of the Holy Spirit as evidenced through an abundant response from people in each setting through baptisms and professions of faith. Tony is married to the former Carmen Stegall of Montgomery, and they have three children – Arden, a senior at Auburn University, and daughter Adeline and son, Holt, who are in the 10th and 8th grade at Trinity Presbyterian School in Montgomery. Tony is an ordained elder in the Global Methodist Church.
